What to expect when you send your cat for boarding
Being in a new environment is stressful for a cat. If your cat has not gone for boarding before, or it has been more than 6 months since the last boarding, your cat will need to acclimatise to it all over again.
From new smells and noises to new human beings around, your cat may spend the first 2-3 days observing the comings and goings at the boarding place before tentatively opening up.
Be prepared for updates from your boarder that your cat is not eating or drinking much during the first 2-3 days. Or your cat may be displaying behaviours you've not witnessed before, from hiding in small corners to biting aggressively. Don't stress over this, as these behaviours are perfectly normal.
If your cat boarder is experienced, he or she will be able to take all these in stride and ease your cat into the new environment. It is very important to check the track record of your cat boarder before engaging him or her.
